Description
Returns the x
-based logarithm of y
.
Result type: DOUBLE PRECISION
Syntax
LOG (x, y)
- If either argument is
0
or below, an error is raised. (Before 2.5, this would result inNaN
,±INF
or0
, depending on the exact values of the arguments.) - If both arguments are
1
,NaN
is returned. - If
x = 1
andy < 1
,-INF
is returned. - If
x = 1
andy > 1
,INF
is returned.
Important: If the external function LOG
is declared in your database, it will override the internal function. To make the internal function available, DROP
or ALTER
the external function (UDF).
